Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)

Ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour, particularly in hotspot areas including Watling Avenue and surrounding open spaces, continue to affect residents’ quality of life and perceptions of safety.

- Continue high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations
- Maintain and expand targeted operations to deter persistent ASB
- Engage with local residents and community groups to identify key issues and provide reassurance
- Work in partnership with local authorities to address environmental factors contributing to ASB

Youth Violence / Drug Supply (Op Krythion)

Youth violence linked to drug supply and exploitation remains a key concern. A safeguarding-focused approach is required to address the underlying causes and protect vulnerable young people.

- Work closely with youth services, schools, and safeguarding partners to provide early intervention and support
- Conduct intelligence-led stop and search activity where lawful and proportionate, ensuring community impact is considered
- Analyse local trends to identify drivers such as gang activity and drug networks, focusing enforcement on those responsible for exploitation
- Deliver targeted operations under Op Krythion to disrupt drug supply and associated criminality

Shoplifting

A significant increase in shoplifting has been identified across the ward, particularly affecting local supermarkets and retail premises. This has impacted staff safety, increased stock loss, and contributed to a rise in community concern.

- Develop intelligence around prolific offenders operating within the ward
- Proactively target offenders and pursue arrest and charge where appropriate
- Work with local businesses and partners to share information and strengthen store security measures
- Utilise ASB legislation and Criminal Behaviour Orders to manage and restrict repeat offenders, including banning individuals from affected areas where necessary
