Careers at the Met

Covid-19 update

The Met, like many organisations across all sectors, continues to manage through the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. This has had a direct impact on our recruitment of new officers.

Unfortunately, this means that for now we have taken the decision to temporarily pause accepting new applications
to join us as a police constable.

Our very successful recruitment programme has allowed us to reach this year’s growth target several months early, under National Uplift funding, whilst we have also seen the number of our current officers leaving
reduce since the start of the pandemic.

Over the next few weeks we are focusing our efforts on supporting our candidates who are already in our recruitment pipeline with the aim of welcoming them into the Met as quickly as possible.

We will keep our decision to pause new applications under constant review. We thank you for your interest in an exciting career with us and look forward to supporting you through the recruitment process as soon as possible. In the meantime, please do register your interest through our talent bank. We will be in touch. Thank you for your patience.
