The bereaved families, survivors and residents remain at the heart of this investigation and are recognised as victims within the principles of the Victims’ Code of Practice.
Since 14 June 2017, we have remained committed to supporting those affected, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are prioritised as we continue to pursue justice.
Bereaved families are supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers (FLOs), who play a critical and compassionate role throughout the investigative process.
FLOs are dedicated to building trusted relationships with families, ensuring they are treated with dignity, sensitivity and professionalism at all times. They recognise and respond to the diverse cultural, emotional and practical needs of each family, providing tailored support.
FLOs act as a consistent point of contact, offering clear updates on the progress of the investigation and facilitating direct communication with the Officer in Charge and the wider investigative team.
This approach helps ensure that families feel informed, involved and supported at every stage.
Survivors and residents are supported in a similar manner through designated contact officers. These officers provide regular updates, respond to questions or concerns and act as a reliable point of connection to the investigation.
Their role is to ensure that those directly impacted continue to feel acknowledged, listened to and supported, recognising that recovery and engagement needs may evolve over time.
We are committed to maintaining open, honest and accessible communication.
These pages are one of the ways in which we share information, providing updates, relevant resources and reassurance about the ongoing work of the investigation.
It reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability and the fair treatment of all victims.
Throughout this process, we remain mindful of the profound impact this tragedy has had and continues to have.
We are dedicated to delivering a victim-centred approach that not only seeks justice but also upholds respect, compassion and integrity in all our interactions.
