It is hard to think of anything original to say about this dreadful business. Please tell PC Palmer's family that I am thinking of them, and also all of his past and present colleagues in the Metropolitan Police and the army. Thanks to the efforts of PC Palmer, my dad and his fellow parliamentarians were protected from the actions of this crazed individual. My deepest sympathy to Keith Palmers family, my heart goes out to them. His bravery in the line of duty was second to none. A massive thank you to the met & every police force in Britain for helping to keep us all safe. For one act of evil there are 100s of kind acts. We will not let them win.
Many people have observed that the police and emergency services ran towards the incident and not away. We are all conditioned to expect that as part of the decency and the bravery of our services which despite all the pressures remain largely unarmed. But to have done what he did requires courage and bravery far more than many of us will ever show. And yet if people like Keith did not form the backbone of the police service we would all be immeasurably the poorer.
My condolences to PC Palmer's family and colleagues. Gratitude to him and members of the police force who do their best to keep us all safe.
Thank you for keeping my family safe, and our government safe, and our country safe. To you and all your colleagues.
