  • Priority:

    Theft from Motor Vehicles

    Issued 08 July 2026

    Action taken:

Prevention remains a central priority, with the MPS providing the public with clear guidance on reducing risk—such as properly securing vehicles, safeguarding keys, and avoiding leaving valuables on display. This public‑facing engagement aims to minimise opportunity for offending and strengthens the partnership between police and communities, supporting the overall objective of lowering theft‑from‑vehicle incidents across London.

  • Priority:

    Theft by shoplifting

    Issued 08 July 2026

    Action taken:

Review all theft related reports to identify crime patterns and offenders. Work better with Richmond business community and store recovery agents to deter persons from committing shoplifting within the town centre. Increase patrols within George Street as part of Op Martello to reduce shoplifting and to intercept criminal behaviour more effectively.

    Actioned 08 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Anti social behaviour (ASB)

    Issued 08 July 2026

    Action taken:

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) prioritises a community‑focused, problem‑solving approach when responding to anti‑social behaviour, recognising the significant impact ASB has on public safety, confidence, and quality of life. Under the New Met for London programme, ASB falls within core "community crime‑fighting" priorities, with the MPS committing to placing more officers and PCSOs into neighbourhoods, working directly with residents to tackle crime and anti‑social behaviour, and deploying specialist resources where community harm is greatest. This includes initiatives including Op Martello and Safer Spaces.

In line with national policy, MPS prioritises rapid and effective use of ASB powers—including dispersal powers, civil injunctions, Community Protection Notices, and Public Spaces Protection Orders—ensuring legal thresholds are met and victims are supported. Updated statutory guidance emphasises victim‑led responses, data sharing among local agencies, and strengthened enforcement tools such as extended dispersal periods and the introduction of the Respect Order for persistent offenders.

The MPS also aims to maintain visible neighbourhood policing as a priority action. Even with recent structural changes—such as redeploying specialist ASB officers into ward‑based teams—the service states it remains committed to cracking down on ASB and increasing officer visibility in hotspot areas, with enhanced training provided to neighbourhood teams to ensure ASB continues to be addressed robustly and proactively.

    Actioned 08 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Residential Burglary

    Issued 08 July 2026

    Action taken:

Analyse crime data: Identify hotspots, repeat locations, times of day, and MO.
Link series: Use CCTV, forensic hits, and witness statements to link offences.
Nominal focus: Identify and monitor known offenders, especially those recently released from custody.
Partner intel: Share information with probation, housing, and neighbouring wards.

High-visibility patrols in hotspot areas during peak offending times.
Plain-clothes operations to detect suspicious behaviour.
Stop/search powers used proportionately on known suspects or in hotspot zones.
Warrants and arrests: Prioritise burglary suspects for proactive enforcement.

    Actioned 08 July 2026
