I have served as a Police Officer in The Metropolitan Police since 1998. I have worked in many roles including, Emergency response in Redbridge, Safer Transport in Newham and now Safer Neighbourhoods (SNT) in Barking. I was raised on Eastbury Ward from the late 70's until the late 90’s so I have personal knowledge of your area. I genuinely care for your area and my goal as your dedicated ward officer (DWO) is to reduce crime, deal with community offences and ultimately make Eastbury Ward a safer place to live and visit.
Priority 1: VAWG priority Ripple Road (near shops), Upney Lane.
VAWG (Upney Lane Station) – Providing visible patrols in areas where women have reported feeling unsafe.

•Educating the community about identifying and reporting harassment or abuse.

•Partnering with local organisations to offer support to survivors and raise awareness.
•The three main key hot spots in Eastbury Ward for VAWG are Upney Lane train station, Essex Road and Lambourne Gardens.
• Police are also conducting regular patrols in hot spots for VAWG and where Women feel unsafe in Eastbury Ward.
•Eastbury officers have worked together with LLBD council to fix a gate where a padlock was broken near Upney Lane station on Lambourne Gardens were Eastbury Ward have identified that it’s a VAWG hot spot.

Priority 2: ASB/Theft of and Theft from Motor vehicles (Ward Wide Focus Mainly Ripple Road, Blake Avenue)

• There have been reports of groups hanging around the location causing ASB or doing drugs in vehicles and in block of flats and that they use Nitrous Oxide canisters and drugs. This mainly happens in the evenings.
• Eastbury Ward has worked with the ASB officer and the council in order to address this issue. Also, we have:
• Patrols around the area mainly in evenings and during the day.
• Increasing Patrols in the area
• Engaging with residents
• Encouraging residents to report crime if they witness it.
• Officers from Eastbury have also conducted Cuppa with a Copper near Blake avenue on the main road on Ripple road.
• Officers from Eastbury have also conducted reassurance visits in the area of victims of burglaries and other victims and encourage residents to report any sort of crime. Also, Eastbury SNT contact card has been given to residents and Met Engage leaflet.

Priority 3: Robbery (Ward Wide Focus mainly Gale Street and Upney Lane)

• Robbery (ward wide focus) – Targeted Hi Visibility Robbery patrols on Gale Street and Upney Lane to prevent Robbery’s which mainly occur during the school runs and rush hours.
• Also, we try to encourage residents and the victims of the robberies to report the crime that has occurred.
• Officers from Eastbury ward have been also conducting plain clothes patrols in Gale Street .
• Work with the JO Richardson School to tell the teachers to encourage their students to report any crime mainly robbery’s.
• Officers will be conducting patrols and taking calls when they are in the area to protect victims and secure evidence, to bring prosecution to those who commit these crimes.
The Next date of a Ward Panel Meeting for Eastbury Sarge is 30th March 2026 at 7pm.
