Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area (or 'ward'), supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Horace Avenue and Legon Avenue
Both Horace and Legon Avenue on the west side of Rush Green will see a focus over the next few months to monitor and deter ASB, including parking issues with the assistance of the local authority (Barking and Dagenham Council). Wider ASB issues will also be looked into, with a cross-partnership approach taken, working alongside the council and other organisations. -

Speeding in Rush Green
The issue of vehicles speeding across the Rush Green area of the ward will be explored area over the coming months, focusing on residential streets including on the likes of Horace Avenue and Gorseway. The streets around Parish Fields, also known as the ‘flower estate’, will feature too. Barking and Dagenham Council (LBBD) will be contacted about installing traffic-measuring equipment around various locations, to assess the regularity and extent of any speeding. A similar survey around Gorseway and Lincoln Avenue was carried out in May 2021, with results raising no concerns or necessity for further speed-restricting measures.A Community Roadwatch approach will also be considered at various locations around Rush Green, allowing residents to oversee a speed gun operation.
Ongoing feedback from residents in the affected areas, along with updates provided at the next Ward Panel Meeting (WPM), will help highlight any noticeable successes.

Violence Against Women and Girls
Patrols around the ward’s open spaces, including the Eastbrookend Country Park, Fels Field and Central Park, will continue over the coming months to offer reassurance to visitors and deter opportunities to commit offences. Boasting some of the borough’s finest green space, the team have continued to dedicate time to patrolling the more secluded parts of the ward on foot. Copses (areas of small woodland) will also be included on patrols to maximise the team’s coverage and ensure such areas aren’t being used to obscure anti-social behaviour.Self-style ‘homecoming patrols’ will also be carried out by the team, providing a uniformed presence on the streets between 4pm-7pm to increase visibility to those returning home from school and work. This is an ongoing activity by the team and has been well-received previously.
The team will also adopt Walk, Talk and Do, as well as the StreetSafe initiative, to provide an opportunity for women/girls to share areas of concern around the ward, either matters for police to tackle or local authority issues, such as poor lighting.
