You don't have to be on the front line of policing to be there for London. Thousands of people across the capital are already doing a huge amount to help support and protect our great city.
Met Police Volunteers are placed in office-based and non-operational roles to help us to deliver a better service to the public, while strengthening our invaluable links with the community. Whether it's supporting officers in Neighbourhood Policing Teams, improving standards of witness care or providing enhanced levels of customer service and helping the public at police stations, there are many ways to be there for London as a Met Police Volunteer. All we ask for is a regular commitment of your time, i.e ten hours per month for at least six months.
Volunteering can help enrich your social life and enable you to brush up or maintain your existing skills. Above all, by giving back to your community and helping to keep our city safe, it can give you a real sense of achievement.
Important: Be certain you are applying for the right volunteering role otherwise you risk wasting your time completing the wrong application.
If you wish to join the Metropolitan Police as a volunteer police officer (for example, wear a uniform and undertake operational duties on London's streets) then you should apply to be a special constable.
If you wish to apply for a paid role, either as a police officer or member of police staff, please go to the careers homepage and click the appropriate link there.
We regret we are unable to offer summer holiday/work experience/internship placements since these are not compatible with our volunteering programme.
