The Metropolitan Police Service (the Met) is the UK’s largest police force, safeguarding over 9 million Londoners across 620 square miles. Following the launch of New Met for London 2 (NMfL 2) in October 2025, we are driving ambitious organisational reform across community crime‑fighting, culture change, foundational improvement, and partnership working.
About the role
The property director reports to the chief business services officer to provide strategic leadership for the Met's entire real estate and property portfolio, spanning one of the largest and most complex estates in the UK, directly enabling frontline policing across a 24/7 operational environment serving c.45,000 officers and staff.
The postholder will execute the Met’s 3-5 year estates management strategy, translating the strategy into annual delivery plans that transform the estate, optimise assets and drives continuous improvement. They will be accountable for the delivery of an annual capital investment programme of significant scale and complexity.
Working across the four functional pillars of property services the post holder will deliver a seamless, customer-centric service that modernises the Met’s working environment for all officers and staff.
The property director will act as the principal interlock between property services and its internal customers across all frontline commands and enabling functions, ensuring the estate portfolio supports frontline policing objectives, meets statutory requirements, and delivers measurable value for money across capital and revenue budgets set by MOPAC.
This is a rare and influential opportunity to shape the future of the Met.
