"I came to DLS from a city firm and have never regretted the move. In my 19 year career with the Met I have never been bored – the work I carry out is varied, interesting, frequently newsworthy and always relevant to our London community." Sara Royan – Senior Lawyer
"The opportunity to use my legal and practical thinking on cases of organisational and social importance allows me to contribute to real-time policing. This gives me a great sense of achievement and purpose." Victoria Neil – Senior Lawyer
"One of the best parts of being a lawyer for the Met, is the feeling that you are really making a difference. Whether that is in making an application for a stalking protection order to protect a terrified victim, facilitating disclosure to a Coroner in a death in custody inquest, or defending a judicial review application. The work that we do is varied, exciting and most of all, it really matters, to both the officers that we work with and the people of London." Emma Scott – Senior Lawyer
Being a lawyer in our team is a rewarding career, one which really makes a difference to the people living, working and visiting London on a daily basis.
We are truly committed to blended working and typically you can expect to work two days a week from our base at Holborn Police Station and choose where to work on other days. It goes without saying that the needs of our clients and court hearings can change this schedule, this may mean going to particular locations on certain days.
Wellbeing is really important to us. There are some great services available to you from day one, including our newly launched physiotherapy service, counselling support and a mobile wellbeing provision. When life throws something in your direction we can help you through it!
We have a strong focus on developing our people. This has included our recently launched aspiring lawyer programme to help people into the profession. For our lawyers we offer rotation to enable people to experience different areas of law. We offer progression to become senior lawyers and promotion opportunities to become heads of team.
We can promise you a varied workload, career progression and a starting salary of £60,624, which includes allowances totalling £2,841. The salary is broken down as £57,783 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £77,072. There is also a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
