We are committed to reducing the number of accidental and non-accidental deaths on the river and making the tidal Thames (from Teddington in the west to the North Sea in the east) a safer place for all.
Our Marine Policing Unit has worked alongside the Port of London Authority, London Fire Brigade, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, London Ambulance Service and Maritime and Coastguard Agency to produce a drowning prevention strategy to help achieve this.
All agencies are calling on people from all walks of life to play their part in saving lives by following safety advice and having the confidence to intervene when they spot someone in danger along the capital’s river.
The partnership is working to reduce incidents on the river where people's lives are at risk, either by misadventure, or as a result of suicide attempts.
