Summary

It was alleged on 11 May 2023 FPC Davinder Grewal made a fraudulent insurance claim on items that he reported stolen from his home address.

It was alleged between 29 May 2023 and 1 June 2023, FPC Grewal communicated with his line manager regarding leave said to be required for purposes of accompanying his mother to India for an emergency medical procedure. It is further alleged that FPC Grewal had in fact flown to Lanzarote for a week with his partner and child on 2 June 2023 instead.

It was alleged on 23 June 2023, during a routine attendance for a report of drunk and disorderly behaviour, FPC Grewal spat at a member of the public, after he had been detained by police.

Through the conduct set out in these three separate allegations, it was alleged FPC Grewal breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to 'Authority, Respect & Courtesy', 'Honesty & Integrity', and 'Discreditable Conduct'.

Decision

The panel, chaired by Commander Adam Slonecki, found the allegations against the former officer proven at gross misconduct.

Had FPC Grewal been serving, he would have been dismissed without notice. He will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing.
