The brief circumstances are that on 17 February 2026, at Colchester Magistrates' Court, PS Norley pleaded guilty to the offence of driving a motor vehicle while over the prescribed alcohol limit, contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and fined £1,500, together with the applicable surcharge and costs.
The Chair, Commander Andy Brittain, found the allegations proven on the balance of probabilities. Furthermore, the Chair found that PS Norley had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of 'Discreditable Conduct' and that this breaches amounted to Gross Misconduct.
PS Norley was dismissed without notice and will be placed on the college of policing barred list.
