The allegations against Police Sergeant Asif Syed were as follows: on 3 January 2026, PS Syed is alleged to have used excessive force on a detained person who appeared to be unconscious in the rear of a police van.
The Chair, Commander Andy Brittain, found all the Allegations proven on the balance of probabilities.
Furthermore, the Chair found that PS Syed had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Use of Force, Duties & Responsibilities and Discreditable Conduct, and that these breaches amounted to Gross Misconduct.
Dismissed Without Notice.
