Officer concerned: PC James Brown
Dates of hearing: 7 November 2024
It was alleged that PC James Brown contacted and engaged in a sexual relationship with a non-crime domestic victim while under IAU restrictions. Additionally, PC Brown attempted to pervert the courses of justice by encouraging the victim to delete all messages exchanged and to not engage with the Police regarding the investigation.
The Chair, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor found these allegations as proven. Furthermore, it was found that PC Brown has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of 'Discreditable Conduct', 'Orders & Instructions' and 'Authority, Respect and Courtesy' proven as Gross Misconduct.
PC Brown's actions amounted to Gross Misconduct and has been dismissed without notice.
