Officer concerned: PC Christopher Goodey
Dates of hearing: 13 May 2026
PC Goodey answered the following allegations:
* On 22 October 2025, whilst off duty, PC Goodey was involved in a road traffic collision with another vehicle. He provided a road side breath test with a reading of 109 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
* As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol, contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
* Following his arrest, PC Goodey was transported to Parkside Police Station in Cambridgeshire, where he was required to provide an evidential breath specimen. While in police custody, he provided a sample which recorded 97 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. Both readings were in excess of the prescribed legal limit, of 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres.
* On 2 April 2026, he appeared before Cambridgeshire Magistrates' Court, where he entered a guilty plea to driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol, contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
* Upon conviction, the court imposed the following sentence:
* A 26-month disqualification from driving
* 150 hours of unpaid work
* A victim surcharge in the sum of £85
* Prosecution costs totalling £85
This conduct represents a serious breach of the standards expected and resulted in criminal conviction and court-imposed penalties.
The Chair, Commander Brittain, found all Allegations proven on the balance of probabilities. Furthermore, the Chair found that PC Goodey had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct, and that these breaches amounted to Gross Misconduct.
PC Goodey was Dismissed Without Notice.
