It was alleged that Former trainee Detective Constable Marcello Carreira behaved in an unacceptable and inappropriate manner towards fellow students during the training course, he has made upsetting and offensive remarks about prisoners who he has previously overseen as a prison officer, and he has sexually assaulted and made inappropriate sexual comments to a female colleague.
The panel found the allegations proven.
Former T/DC Marcello Carreira breached the following professional standards: 'Discreditable Conduct' and 'Authority, Respect and Courtesy'.
Former T/DC Marcello Carreira's actions amounted to Gross Misconduct and he would have been dismissed without notice if he was still serving.
