Summary

The brief circumstances of this case are that, on 22 May 2026 at Southwark Crown Court PC Rupert Edwards was convicted of Rape contrary to Section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. PC Edwards is due to be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on 10 July 2026. In doing so, it is alleged that PC Edwards has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:

PC Edwards was not in attendance for these proceedings. He was not represented at the hearing however he had been given this opportunity.

The Chair, Commander Brittain, found all the allegations proven and that PC Edwards had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour at the level of Gross Misconduct.

Decision

PC Edwards was dismissed without notice and will be placed on the College of Policing barred list.
