Summary

The allegations against PC Marus are following on from the broadcast of the BBC Panorama programme on 1 October 2025. The programme included video footage obtained covertly by an undercover BBC journalist who had been employed in the capacity of a Designated Detention Officer within the Charing Cross Police Station custody suite. Subsequent examination of additional, previously unaired footage has identified further information, which has now been brought to the attention of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

It was alleged that PC Marus:
* Made boastful comments about driving a police vehicle in an inappropriate manner
* Suggested that he was looking forward to using force on members of the public
* Made disparaging and dismissive comments about people reporting phone crime
* Spoke about making 'arrest worthy' comments with people he knew, but putting on a mask around new recruits until he gets to know them

PC Marus was in attendance for these proceedings.

PC Marus has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:
* Discreditable Conduct
* Authority, Respect & Courtesy

The Chair, T/ Commander Beehag-Fisher, found the allegations proven and that PC Marus had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour at the level of Gross Misconduct.

Decision

PC Marus was dismissed without notice and will be placed on the College of Policing barred list.
