Summary

The brief circumstances of this case are that Officer A failed to disclose relevant and declarable information during both their initial Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) recruitment vetting application in 2015 and their vetting renewal application in 2024.

Subsequent enquiries identified historic arrests, crime reports, and undeclared associations with individuals involved in criminality that had not been disclosed. The Vetting Unit concluded that, had this information been declared, Officer A would not have been granted the necessary level of vetting clearance. It was therefore alleged that Officer A had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:

*       Honesty and Integrity

*       Orders and Instructions

Officer A did not attend the proceedings and was represented throughout by their Federation Representative.

Decision

The Chair, Commander Wingrove, found the allegations relating to the 2024 vetting renewal application proven and determined that Officer A had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour at the level of Gross Misconduct.

The Chair concluded that, Officer A was to be dismissed without notice. The Chair further directed that Officer A be placed on the College of Policing Barred List.
