Officer concerned: DC Pervaz Malik
Dates of hearing: 31 March 2026
The brief circumstances are that, between 2016 and August 2023, it is alleged that DC Pervaz Malik engaged in serious misconduct while overseas, including organising sex workers for himself and others in a manner incompatible with the standards expected of a police officer.
During this period, he is also alleged to have purchased, used, and facilitated the supply of Class A drugs.
Separately, in February 2024, the officer is accused of deliberately failing to provide the correct access code to a device when lawfully required to do so, thereby obstructing an active criminal investigation.
DC Malik was not in attendance for these proceedings, which was confirmed by his federation representative PC Leigh Bowden. DC Malik was represented at the hearing by his federation representative.
The Chair, Commander Andy Brittain, found the allegations proven on the balance of probabilities. Furthermore, the Chair found that DC Malik had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of 'Honesty & Integrity', 'Discreditable Conduct', and 'Fitness for Duty', and that these breaches amounted to Gross Misconduct.
DC Malik was dismissed without notice and will be placed on the college of policing barred list.
