This is a conduct matter concerning Training Detective Constable Iain Layley. It is alleged that, between 2024 and February 2026, TDC Layley engaged in a course of conduct towards a female colleague ("Female A") which was unwelcome and inappropriate.
The alleged conduct included making inappropriate, misogynistic and sexually suggestive comments; engaging in repeated discussions of a sexual nature; making unwanted comments about Female A's appearance, scent and personal characteristics; seeking physical contact; and otherwise behaving towards Female A in a manner that was unwelcome and inappropriate.
Training Detective Constable Iain Layley of East Area Command Unit will answer allegations that his conduct amounts to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:
It is alleged that this conduct, if proven, individually and/or cumulatively amounts to gross misconduct and therefore should be dismissed.
The identity of victims and witnesses will be protected during the hearing as appropriate.
