Misconduct hearing for PC Willing Gilling

Police Constable Willing Gilling based at Central West Command Unit, will answer allegations that his conduct amounts to a breach of Standards of professional Behaviour, in respect of:
· Use of Force
· Honesty & Integrity
It is alleged that in the early hours of 18 January 2025 whilst on duty in Central London with colleagues, PC Gilling had been dealing with an incident when approached by Mr A.
PC Gilling alleged that Mr A was verbally and physically aggressive and had refused to leave the area when asked, despite a Section 35 Dispersal Order being in place. PC Gilling made an allegation causing Mr A to be arrested for ‘Assault on Emergency Worker’
It is alleged that following Mr A’s arrest PC Gilling signed a statement which contained false allegations about Mr A’s behaviour to justify the wrongful arrest and force used by PC Gilling.
PC Gilling’s signed statement said that Mr A “had violently thrown a right-handed hook style punch to his head narrowly missing” It is alleged that this part of the statement was false and PC Gilling new it to be false.
It is alleged that in acting this way PC Gilling breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘Use of Force and Honesty & Integrity’.
It is further alleged that his conduct, if proven, amounts individually or collectively to gross misconduct and is so serious as to justify dismissal.
The identity of victims and witnesses will be protected during the hearing as appropriate.
