Q1 - How many staff devoted to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are currently employed by the Metropolitan Police Service and what is the total cost of their salaries. How many equality and diversity posts, uniformed and nonuniformed, are employed in the Metropolitan Police.
The Culture Diversity and Inclusion Unit in the MPS has a dedicated workforce target strength of 64 people. The unit is currently undergoing recruitment, when at full strength the mix of uniformed and non uniformed will be as follows:
This does not include any other posts that may lead/ be involved in EDI related activity across other business areas in the MPS.
B - What is the cost of such posts and any necessary direct admin support.
The current spend is £3.2 million with a running cost if £5.2 million once we have completed all recruitment.
C - How many of these posts are filled by ethnic minority applicants.
Our current data on officers and staff include those that will be moved into other areas of the organisation and attached to our unit in the interim. We therefore are not able to provide accurate data at this point.
D - What is the number and cost of external training bodies and courses for equality and diversity training.
The cost of external training that has been undertaken so far for CD&I officers and staff is £2750 and £3713 this was undertaken through one external training organisation
Q2 - What are the names of the staff networks in the MPS, how many officers/staff work on them and how much of their time do they devote to them.
