Violent offences and knife crimes recorded at schools from 2015 to 2024

I note you seek access to the following information:

Recorded in your force area:

  1. a) Number of violent crimes recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.
    b) Number of arrests for violent crimes recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.
  2. a) Number of knife crimes recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.
    b) Number of arrests for knife crimes recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.
  3. a) Number of knife crimes with injury recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.
    b) Number of arrests for knife crimes with injury recorded in schools in each calendar year (separately) from 2014 to 2024.

By 'Violent crime', (questions 1a and 1b) I mean broadly the crimes set out by the CPS as violent crime here.
I suggest defining this as any offences under the offence groupings 'violence against the person', 'possession of weapons', or 'robbery', plus the specific public order offences of affray, riot or violent disorder.

Clarification -
I have been advised by our data analysts that they can provide you with the information requested in questions 1a, 2a and 3a. However, we do not hold the information requested in questions 1b, 2b and 3b in a format that can easily be retrieved by automatic means.

To search for and retrieve the information requested in questions 1b, 2b and 3b would require us to manually read thousands of arrest records to see if any related to an arrest where the location was a school. This is because this information would be recorded as a free text entry. There is not a flag / marker on our arrest database to automatically highlight this type of information. We do not record arrests by location type (i.e. school) This task would vastly exceed the FOIA cost / research threshold /offence location.

Kindly advise if you wish to omit questions 1b, 2b & 3b from your request so that your request falls within the FOIA cost / research threshold.
