Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.25.043234
I note you seek access to the following information:
The Axon Body Worn Camera (AB3) video recall feature, if enabled allows for the following: “The Video Recall tab shows 30-minute-increment files captured in the past 18 hours while the camera was buffering
Effectively this allows AB3 Body Worn Cameras to be interrogated for 18 hours of previously ‘non-recorded’ footage well beyond the usual buffer period. This has very different privacy implications for officers and members of the public than the widely accepted buffer period used by police services around the world i.e. 30-60s. If enabled this significantly increases the risk of collateral intrusion if misused.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Please confirm if the video recall setting is enabled on AB3 cameras in the MPS.
In respect of Q1 the MPS has not enabled video recall on any of its Axon Body Worn Camera (AB3) BWV cameras.
The MPS does not hold recorded information on the remaining questions posed.
