I am researching General Pinochet's arrest in London on Friday 16 October 1998.

I would be very grateful if you could share with me his time of arrest, please.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

The searches completed located two documents that contain information relevant to your request. These are:

1. An undated MPS Briefing note titled BRIEFING NOTE REF. The document states in respect of the arrest warrant issued for Augusto Pinochet Ugarte, the warrant was executed at 23.41hrs.

2. A document dated 6 November 1998 titled THE EXTRADICTION OF AUGUSTO PINOCHET UGARTE FROM SPAIN states On the 16 October 1998 the arrest was carried out at 23.30 hours.

SUPPORTING INFORMATION

It should be noted that document 2 is not an MPS document. It is accordingly considered that document 1 is more likely to accurately reflect the time of arrest than document 2.

It should also be noted that there are a large number of documents held by the MPS that concern the arrest and extradition of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte. The MPS has completed a proportionate search across a small number of these documents and located the information provided within the section of this notice.
