Maintaining Public Trust in the MPS
Building and maintaining the trust of the community is integral to the principle of policing by consent and to continue to do so, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) understands how crucial it is to act with professionalism and integrity to uphold this trust. The MPS treats each occasion when an allegation is made about the conduct of its staff extremely seriously and will fully investigate each incident to determine whether the conduct of that member of staff has breached the standards of professional behaviour. If it is found that an officer’s and staff’s actions fall short of those standards, the MPS is committed to taking strong and appropriate action, ensuring accountability, and learning from each case. The MPS carries such matters with highest level of seriousness and commitment to transparency.
