Q1 - Which IT system do you use to record crime data, and when did you last change this system.
The MPS used the Crime Report Information System (CRIS) for recording crime data from 1995 to 2024, when it was superseded by an integrated IT system, CONNECT.
Q2 - Does your force have control over its own data system, or does an external supplier make changes to your crime recording IT system for you.
The MPS are generally able to make changes to its own system where they are configuration level, for example values in drop down lists or workflow. Where a change requires modification of programming code then these are made by the supplier of the system
Q3 - Has your police force given any training to improve understanding of the Home Office Counting Rules.

Q4 - Has your police force collaborated with other forces to share knowledge and improve consistency in interpreting the Counting Rules.
There is a national process that involves all forces with the Home Office to review and apply the rules and guidance within the HOCR. That process aims to ensure they are applied evenly across the country.
