Does a onduty close protection officer have powers to hold of the pavement/road in order to allow there protectee to walk pass safely.
e.g VIP is exiting Hotel two close protection officers block both sides of sidewalk.
I believe I am still able to walk pass I would like you to verify this information and if there is a specific power which grants them to do this.

Metropolitan Police Close Protection officers are able to use the appropriate legislation in order to carry out their duties. Section 3 Criminal Law Act 1967, Section 117 Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and Common Law are the most commonly used Acts when protecting protected persons, the public or themselves.
