I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Please state how many Registered Sex Offenders (Category 1) your force had responsibility for as at 1 January 2024.
In January 2024 we had responsibility for 7027 registered sex offenders.
Q2 - How many of these RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 1 did you NOT have an up-to-date address for in that you did NOT know where they were living.
If the MPS does not have an up-to-date address and we are unable to locate them, they have breached their notification requirements and will be liable to prosecution. These offenders will be classified as wanted by the police rather than missing or whereabouts unknown. The total wanted sex offenders for London is 233
Q3 - How many of the missing RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 2 are (a) believed to have moved and be living abroad, or (b) thought to have No Fixed Address and may be homeless.
Question 2 relates to wanted offenders rather than offenders who don’t have an up to date address as all offenders have to provide up to date addresses as part of their notification requirements. We are therefore unable to provide an answer to this question. The MPS response is No Information Located.
Q3 - Of those missing RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 2 how many were designated as being managed at (i) Level 1, (ii) Level 2 and (iii) Level.
NOTE: If you cannot do this calculation for 1 January 2024, then please do the calculation for the most recent date you can.
