Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.24.041540
I note you seek access to the following information:
This is a request for information about the redundancy payments made to comm unications staff, and payments to temporary staff / contractors in communications roles.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Could you please provide the amount of redundancy money already paid and agreed to be paid to communications staff for the last five years broken down by year – up to now.
All redundancy was voluntary in 24-25 and in total amounted to 1.14m.
The MPS did not make any redundancy payments for the previous years referred to in your request, the answer for previous years is not held/ zero.
The MPS notes that part of this question specifically asks about money agreed to be paid to communications staff…up to now, the MPS is only required to refer to recorded information to answer a request and the above figure only includes those exiting in 24-25 rather than on those who may be planning on exiting in April 2025.
Q2 -The data should also include the number of staff who have taken redundancy, both voluntary and compulsory, each year.
19 members of staff took Voluntary Redundancy or Voluntary Exit. The 19 exits refer to years 2024 and 2025.
All redundancy was voluntary in 24-25, there was no compulsory redundancy from our restructure.
No voluntary redundancy, voluntary exit or compulsory redundancies occurred in the previous years, therefore any further information is not held.
Q3 - Could you also provide the number of staff currently in the redeployment pool
As of the date of your request (25 November 2025), in respect of Communications and Engagement staff, the answer is 20.
Q4 - Their pay band
As of the date of your request (25 November 2025), the answer to this question is as follows;
Band D - 6
Band C - 5
Band B - 7
Band A - 2
Q5 - I would also like the sums paid to temporary staff / contractors hired in the communications department for the past five years, also broken down by year.
