If a vehicle full of personal belongings is seized by MPS to be forensically searched to help in an investigation.
If, after the search, that vehicle is then sold at police auction.
My question….
What is your procedure for the contents of the vehicle?
i.e.
are the contents removed before the vehicle is sold OR is the vehicle sold, whilst still containing the personal belongings etc

Please see the following response provided by the Met Police’s Vehicle Recovery & Examination Service (VRES) who manage the Met Police’s car pounds.
All seized vehicles that are sent for disposal will have the contents removed prior to collection by our vehicle disposal contractor. A vehicle can be disposed of via public auction, scrapping / destruction or dismantling.
The removal of property is undertaken by Met Police staff employed in the car pounds and not by the contractor collecting the vehicle.
