Q1 - Are PaDP (Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection) Officer trained in the ARVO Course?
No, PaDP do not undertake the ARV course, but rather complete the Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) course.
Q2 (a) - Can you go straight from Frontline Policing to Special Operations Divisions, such as PaPD, SEG or SOAP,
No, there is a requirement to complete bespoke training to the role, which can be done whilst in the current role being performed.
Q2 (b) - Or do you need to become a part of Met Operations 19 Specialist Firearms Command first?
There is no requirement to be working in MO19 before moving into one of the above mentioned Commands/units.
Q3 - What is the application process into the Protection Command? Is it hand picked? Is it EOI based?
Officers complete a written application, assessment centre, One Stop Shop (medical & fitness tests), 2 days ballistic first aid course, TASER course, 5 week firearms course, Attendance Management Review and Professional Standards Checks.
