Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.24.038993
I note you seek access to the following information:
According to University College London, the Institute for Global Policing partnered with the Metropolitan Police (and others)
to
(i) conduct an 18 month qualitative longitudinal evaluation of the KCPO pilot in London;
(ii) Evaluate the evidence of the benefits and strengths of any impact of KCPOs on offending and recidivism in the 13-25-year-old group; and
(iii) Consider the risk that KCPOs might fail to inhibit, or even promote, offending.
According to previous FOIs (specifically, Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.027998) the pilot ended in March 2023.
According to the Institute for Global Policing, the evaluation was completed.
I request that the Metropolitan Police publish the evaluation.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The MPS has located a quantitative (SIU element) and qualitative (UCL) document, they have to date not been condensed together as one, therefore both documents may be considered relevant to your request albeit there is not ‘an evaluation’ in the way you refer in your request.
The MPS today discloses the two documents held by the MPS.
Caveat regarding information provided today in the UCL KCPO document
Please note there is an inconsistency in the UCL KCPO document on page 21, disclosed today. There is a line that reads This data revealed that the charity had provided mentoring services to eight young men referred by the MPS.
The MPS can confirm the number of young people referred by the MPS who actively engaged in mentoring was actually fifteen (15) young men, not eight (8).
Additionally, we can advise that the KCPO report is not classed as a process or outcome evaluation of the KCPO pilot programme. The KCPO report was to report on the outcomes of a process evaluation and draw on the data presented in the MPS SIU impact evaluation document.
