I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Does your force have a dedicated (RASSO) unit.
We have established twelve dedicated Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) teams, across the MPS. The teams were implemented in the Borough Command Unit system in 2017. They have become part of the Public Protection strand, and remain so to this day.
Q2 - At 11 March 2024, how many vacancies does your force have for specific (RASSO) officers (rape and serious sexual offences).
There are currently 206 vacancies in (RASSO) - that includes all ranks from PC/DC to Insp. There has been an uplift in staff across the public protection teams, therefore the target has increased and we are currently in the process of recruiting into those posts.
Note: Current vacancies as of 21 May 2024.
