I note you seek access to the following information:
How many e scooters on the 23.06.2023
1a. How many were cautioned and given points.
1b. How many were given a warning.
2. How many cars/other vehicles in this category (excluding scooters) without insurance were given points.
2b. How many were given warnings?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1a - How many were cautioned and given points.
The MPS can confirm there were no Traffic Offence Reports (TOR’s) issued specifically for E-Scooters for the 23 June 2023 date. With regards to the ‘cautions and warnings’, we would not have details of those. That would be on a borough level and be dependent on the officer making note, which is not mandatory as far as we are aware at Met Traffic Prosecutions.
In respect of ‘points given’, police do not have responsibility for handling endorsement (i.e. points on licence). His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service undertake this function with the Conditional Offer Unit at South-End-on-Sea and this would be part of the TOR’s process should the case result in attendance at court.
Q1b - How many were given a warning.
The MPS have checked CRIMINT system, where officers are supposed to log any op hornet warnings for the 23/06/2023 MPS wide. No warnings were issued on that day.
Q2 - How many cars/other vehicles in this category (excluding scooters) without insurance were given points.
There are 42 Vehicles (no E-Scooters) that have an offence for no insurance, however we are unable to comment on ‘points’ given as narrated under Q1a.
Q2b - How many were given warnings?
The drivers of motor vehicles are not given warnings for this offence due to the significant risk to the public, the Operation Hornet warning process only applies to E-scooter devices.
