Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.033823
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can you tell me what the data storage requirements are for the Metropolitan Police?
I believe there is more stringent regulation regarding the storage of information in this regard. I am aware that the Met use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for storage of CCTV information but the contract with AWS limits storage to UK data centres as part of a wider government agreement. According to TfL public documents TfL uses Microsoft Azure. Other agencies do use Azure for things like the storage of Body Worn Camera footage.
What I’m interested to know is which services provide which classification levels.
1. What is the classification level used for the TfL ULEZ camera system?
2. What is the classification level used by the Metropolitan Police CCTV system?
3. What is the classification level used for the most secret Military Intelligence?
4. What is the classification level used for Body Worn Cameras used by the police or councils, TfL etc.?
I know that the Met Police CCTV camera system used Amazon Web Services through the Governments Digital Marketplace, but the Met specify UK only storage. I think this is important.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
