Bodies found in the Thames from 2013 to 2023

I note you seek access to the following information:

Can you please tell me how many bodies the Met police has found in the Thames each year for the past ten years?
And for 2024 you can give me the figure thus far?
Any cause of death for each would be great too.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

However please note this is data held about recovery activities by the MPU but this data is not representative of either the Thames or London’s inland waterways. Bodies are recovered from these waters not only by the MPU but also by local officers and other emergency services. Naturally the MPS do not hold the data for the other emergency services.

The data for 2013 – 2022 is already in the public domain and can be accessed by following the link below. Please note this will need to be copy and pasted into your web browser to work.

Bodies Recovered from the River Thames from 2013 to 2022

In 2023 a total of 31 bodies were recovered from the Thames by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

So far in 2024 there have been 9 bodies recovered by the MPS.
