I note you seek access to the following information:

1. Can you please provide the system software name you use for recording crime. I understand that police forces may (or may not depending on which one) use different softwares in recording and extracting crime data.
2. In addition to this can you please provide whether you have the automated capacity (i.e in this case you would not have to manually review cases) to be able to fetch/retrieve the characteristics of:
   a) Ethnicity Of suspect? Of victim.
   b) Nationality Of suspect? Of victim.
   c) Religion Of suspect? Of victim.
   d) Country of birth Of suspect. Of victim.
   e) The legal residency (i.e whether the person was arrested for a crime who was then found to be illegally residing in the UK)
3. If YES to the above answers in 2, can you please provide the year when you first:
   a) Recorded said characteristics.
   b) Were able to retrieve automatically on your software.

CONNECT, from 28 February 2024, prior to this date we used CRIS (Crime Reporting Information System).

Q2 - In addition to this can you please provide whether you have the automated capacity (i.e. in this case you would not have to manually review cases) to be able to fetch/retrieve the characteristics of:

CONNECT - recordable for both Suspects and Victims (Self Defined Ethnicity is also recordable).

b) Nationality Of suspect. Of victim.

CRIS - recordable for both Suspects and Victims.
CONNECT - recordable for both Suspects and Victims.

c) Religion Of suspect. Of victim.

CRIS - recordable for both Suspects and Victims.
CONNECT - recordable for both Suspects and Victims.

d) Country of birth Of suspect. Of victim.

CRIS – not recordable.
CONNECT - recordable for both Suspects and Victims.

e) The legal residency (i.e whether the person was arrested for a crime who was then found to be illegally residing in the UK).

• CRIS – Victim Ethnic appearance and Suspect Ethnic appearance recorded from 1996. Self-classified ethnicity recorded against any victims or suspects was added at a later date, from 2003.
• For CONNECT from 28 February 2024.

b) Were able to retrieve automatically on your software.

Yes for both CRIS and CONNECT.
