In the Commissioner's Report (Page 6 of Appendix A of the transcript of the London Policing Board's meeting of 5 March 2024) Sir Mark Rowley states:
'Proactive measures on vetting, as I say, we have already started tightening our processes. We have doubled the proportion of people who are failing vetting as a consequence, and we were the first force at scale to start to look back and review our vetting cases.'
Please provide the number of individuals on which this assertion is based and brief details of how you obtained the number on which the calculation is based.

The below table is the % of total vetting applications refused during each business year. It has more than doubled since year 2021. This data has been extracted from our vetting systems, which record case outcomes.
