I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - How did the Daily Mail manage to obtain a copy of Roy Ranson's confidential report. This report outlines the evidence Scotland Yard had against Lord Lucan and formed the Crowns Case. It also contained Sandra's diaries and photos. My understanding is that this is still an open case, even though it is not being investigated.
The MPS has not made public, the files or reports from the inquiry into the death of Sandra Rivett and is not aware of how this report has allegedly entered the public domain.
Q2 - We would like to know if Neil Berryman (Sandra's son) has been given access to this report.
Please see the answer to question 1 above.
Q3 - We would like to obtain a copy of this report.
The inquiry into the death of Sandra Rivett remains open as is the case with all unsolved murders. Any significant new information or investigative opportunities that may progress the investigation, will accordingly be considered by the MPS. The files are not accordingly, open or available for inspection by the public. The MPS can consider a request for the files connected to the death of Sandra Rivett under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act), however, as the inquiry remains open, this request would be refused under the Act.
