I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
What proportion of Close Protection Officers at Royalty & Specialist Protection Command (RaSP) are of Black and minority ethnic origin (BAME).
The number of Close Protection officers who define themselves as belonging to an ethnic minority group is 8.37%.
This statistic was derived from a search via the Workforce Dashboard, a platform operated by MPS HR and accessible by members of the Senior Leadership Team. As a side note – BAME became BAMEH (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic Heritage) and is now referred to as EMG (Ethnic Minority Group).
As a result, the term EMG will be used within the remainder of this response.
In addition, with regards to the statistics disclosed above please note the following:
As part of our New Met for London plan, we are committed to ensuring police officers reflect the communities they serve. This includes diversifying our armed commands to increase representation. At Royalty and Specialist Protection, this is being done through the work of our recruitment and training team and wider MPS initiatives.
