I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Are the case files relating to the Sandra Rivett murder (suspect Lord Lucan) from 1974 open and available to see.
The inquiry into the death of Sandra Rivett remains open as is the case with all unsolved murders. Any significant new information or investigative opportunities that may progress the investigation, will accordingly be considered by the MPS. The files are not therefore, open or available for inspection by the public.
Q2 - The Daily Mail are currently publishing a world exclusive featuring a never before seen report from Scotland Yard about the murders. How did they get access to this file.
The MPS has not made public, the files or reports from the inquiry into the death of Sandra Rivett and is not aware of how this report has allegedly entered the public domain.
Q3 - Can I get access to this file and other files relating to the case please.
The MPS can consider a request for the files connected to the death of Sandra Rivett under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act), however, as the inquiry remains open, this request would be refused under the Act. You do however, have the unreserved right to submit a request for this information under the Act, should you decide to do so.
