Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
There were no Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued for the offence of “driving through a Red X on a smart motorway” from the 1 January 2020 to the 12 June 2024.
Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIPs) are used to enforce safety cameras. I have provided NIP enforcement data below.
Please note that FPNs were superseded by Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) in April 2015 to deal with the majority of endorsable and non-endorsable traffic offences.
The total number of NIPs issued for the offence of “driving through a Red X on a smart motorway” from 2020 to July 2022 produced a ‘nil’ result. This is because the MPS only started enforcing the Highway Agency Digital Enforcement Cameras (HADECs) from August 2022, hence there is no data held prior to July 2022. The following NIPs were issued from August 2022:
