Q1 - does scorpion and raptor teams still exist or did they merge to create roads crime team?
The MPS has recently gone through an extensive review of how its proactive units are deployed across London. This involved both local and pan London teams. As a result, both the Scorpion and Raptor teams (Roads Crime) have now merged to form one team under the Pan London Taskforce called the Taskforce Surge Team, based at 4 locations across London: North West/North East/South West /South East respectively.
Q2 - do the roads crime team units have specialised callsigns similar to scorpion and raptor?
The new Taskforce Surge Team have their own callsigns.
Q3 - how does roads crime team support op vision zero?
Q4 - what tactics are being used to reach the target of 0 road deaths and injuries in London by 2041?
Following the move from the Roads and Transport Policing Command to MO7, effective as of the 15 January 2024, the remit of Taskforce Surge Team has changed to be more crime focused, targeting crime types that effect local communities. While the TST will indirectly support the Roads and Transport Policing Command (MO8) with Operation Vision Zero through their daily activity, MO8 will continue to lead this work on behalf of the MPS.
