I would like to request information regarding Met Police response drivers and their current permit point tariff system. Is it true that the current system is being changed with a view of getting rid of the points system altogether? If so, what is the approximate timeline for these changes to be implemented?

In line with MPS Police Driving regulations, a ‘tariff table’ is used as a guide when dealing with police collisions and driving incidents. The main object of the points system is to identify performance and training needs to improve the standards of driving, thereby helping to lead to a reduction of police collisions and ‘to count’ incidents overall. There has been no decision made on whether the current system will be changed.
