Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.24.035644
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can you tell me at what stage DVLA points on a Police Drivers DVLA licence would affect their ability to drive Police vehicles. Example; if say I was an advanced Met Police driver and got 3 points on my DVLA licence would I be suspended from driving Police vehicles?
If that’s not the case then how many points DVLA would affect my ability to drive Police vehicle’s?
Obviously I’m fully aware 12 DVLA points would make me a totter and render me for disqualification under DVLA rules.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Drivers involved in court proceedings, receiving a Fixed Penalty Notice, Notice of Intended Prosecution etc are required to inform the MPS. This information is passed to through to the Line Managers, Safer Driver Managers and then the Police Driver Standards Unit. Consideration is then given to whether the driver should be removed from driving duties.
If an officer has 7 or more current penalty points on their DVLA licence then the entitlement to drive for the MPS will be removed until such time as the officers falls below 7 points.
