Hi Metropolitan Police,
I am writing to you to request the following information which pertains to the number of speeding violations in the UK between the months of July 2023 and August 2023.
Please may you provide data on:
- The number of Speeding fines and prosecutions given to drivers for speeding in your jurisdiction between July 2023 and August 2023
- The top 10 locations with the highest number of fines.
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The data presented below is the total number of Camera Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIPs) and Traffic Offence Report (TORs) for Speeding offences you’ve requested for July 2023 and August 2023 period for Question 1. Though you have requested for ‘speeding fines’ we have taken it to mean camera NIP’s and TORs and have provided as such below.
The actual ‘fines’ aspect would be a matter for His Majesty’s Treasury Service and you would need to contact them direct for that.
Q1 - The number of Speeding fines and prosecutions given to drivers for speeding in your jurisdiction between July 2023 and August 2023
Cameras – Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIP’s) Total = 133087 and Total for Potential Prosecutions = 5615
Traffic Offence Report (TOR) Total = 1574, and total for Potential Prosecution = 757
