Section 16 Advice and Assistance
Q1 - Is the Metropolitan Police Specialist Training Centre (MPSTC) in Gravesend, Kent ever open to the public for open days, tours or visits?
The MPS has community groups attend and watch training. There are no open days for the public.
Q2 - Is the MPSTC ever used as a film location by film and TV companies?
No. We have too much training to be able to support that at present.
Q3 - Does the MPSTC use local civilians, either volunteers or paid, to take part in training scenarios? And, if so, how are they recruited? And what kind of things do they do?
A number of training courses that take place within MPSTC benefit from role players in order to improve the learning experience for students. Many role players are recruited from organisations such as MPS Volunteer Police Cadets, a small number of members of the public regularly provide role play casualties for medic training. The course manager identifies any role player requirements and seeks suitable volunteers, there is no specific recruitment process.
